How to Connect with Your Dream Client

I traveled to New York last week (pinch me, what a dreamy week) and one of my dear friends Natalie asked me how I find my clients. I figured I would share with you all here as well:

😮 Identify your target market

Your dream client starts with your dream. Do you want to work with a client who’s a decision-maker at an automobile factory or a healthcare company?

  • Aka: What market would you like to target?

  • Write it down.

  • Get super clear on 1 or 2 sectors.

🤔 What companies are in that market?

Go to CB Insights or other companies like TechCrunch that create market maps to find the companies in that sector.

I’m going to use FinTech for my example here. Identify 2 or 3 companies that tickles your fancy.

🧑‍🍳 Prep your outreach

  • Use the prompt: “give me news and insights for [XYZ] company” in Perplexity. (Use 1 of the companies from the market map at [XYZ] company.)

  • Or go to Crunchbase and see if they have any new funding announcements.

  • Go to Claude and use the prompt “craft an outreach email for the marketing team at [XYZ] company with the [XYZ news to highlight] with a specific call to action (jump on a call, see you at a specific conference, etc.)”

🕵️‍♀️ Find your People

This is the juicy and very tactical part:

  • Go to LeapLeaper.com on Chrome and add the free app to your Chrome browser.

  • Go to LinkedIn.com and type in the name of the company you just drafted an email. For this example, I’m going to use AirBase from the FinTech marketing map that I posted earlier.

  • Go to the people section under the company tab that you’re targeting:

  • Next, click to the marketing section tab under the people tab

  • Identify the marketing, sales or decision maker that you think you should reach out to:

  • Open their LinkedIn profile and click the frog on the top right of your Google Chrome browser to run LeapLeaper and send your crafted email to your new contact.

Viola! That’s how you send outbound inquiries to your dream client. PS: my friend Natalie is a brilliant content creator if you’re looking for social media management, shoot me a note if you want to be connected– we’re all about supporting each other here.

What other brands are using AI?

It feels like everyone and their sister are talking about the Toys R Us commercial, and yes it was a big deal, but I wanted to take this moment to remind you of another mainstream company that is using AI in a major way.

  1. Levi’s is partnering with Lalaland.ai to introduce AI-generated fashion models.

    • The goal is to enhance the online shopping experience by providing a more diverse representation of body types, ages, sizes, and skin tones. This move is intended to complement, not replace, human models.

  2. The implementation of AI models is designed to address limitations in traditional photoshoots

    • This allows Levi's to showcase products on a wider range of body types more quickly and efficiently. However, the company emphasizes that this is not a complete solution for diversity and inclusion goals.

  3. AI is transforming the fashion industry beyond just model generation

    • This includes providing personalized fashion recommendations, understanding and predicting style trends, and enhancing the overall shopping experience through virtual assistants and customized suggestions.
