My name is Sarah Stoker and I’ve been writing about AI in the creative space since April under a different banner that you might be familiar with. It looks like there’s a new popular girl in town, Google’s Gemini.

We all remember the heyday of MySpace- but then came along a little site called Facebook. Is Chat GPT going to be the Myspace of AI? I know everyone’s been bullish on OpenAI’s Chat GPT products and I get it (I’ll forever love Anthropic’s Claude, but that’s beside the point). Here’s the 411 on Gemini:

Gemini is a cutting-edge AI model that is Google’s most capable and versatile model yet. The headline that’s standing out is “Google’s next-gen AI model Gemini outperforms GPT-4”.
Gemini is a multimodal model that is capable of seamlessly understanding and combining various types of information, including text, code, audio, image, and video.
Gemini comes in three optimized versions: Ultra, Pro, and Nano. The Ultra model boasts state-of-the-art performance, surpassing human experts in language understanding and demonstrating unprecedented capabilities in tasks ranging from coding to multimodal benchmarks.

🫶 AI for Good

Paidleave.ai is a newly debuted free online tool developed by Moms First, a nonprofit organization founded by Reshma Saujani, the founder of Girls Who Code.
The tool utilizes generative AI, specifically OpenAI's GPT-4, to assist new mothers and others in New York in determining their eligibility for paid family leave.
The tool is part of a broader effort to leverage generative AI to navigate complex bureaucratic processes.
By addressing the specific challenge of accessing paid family leave, Paidleave.ai sets a precedent for using AI to tackle similar issues in other domains and locations.
